Frankie Cosmos, Vagabon, Lee Ranaldo, More to Play “Love Speech” Benefit

Brooklyn‘s Murmrr Theatre is hosting a benefit event on December 1, one month after anti-semitic graffiti was found at the synagogue, Union Temple, which houses the venue. Proceeds from the “Love Speech” event will go to to the Southern Poverty Law Center and to Union Temple. Musicians performing include Frankie Cosmos, Algiers, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, Vagabon, Xenia Rubinos, Yeah Yeah YeahsBrian Chase, and Cornelia Murr. There will also be comedy and readings from Meredith Graves (of Perfect Pussy) and Jaboukie Young-White of “The Daily Show,” plus special guests including “Democracy Now!” host Amy Goodman. In addition, BattlesIan Williams, Deafheaven’s George Clarke, and others will DJ the afterparty.

The event also features a raffle and a silent text auction. You can bid via text on guitars signed by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Nile Rodgers (of CHIC), Pixies, and Courtney Barnett, plus a 10-disc Blu-ray box set of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks,” and two VIP tickets to Pitchfork Music Festival 2019. The raffle includes vinyl LPs and merch from Mom + Pop, Sacred Bones, Matador, Partisan, PIAS, Sub Pop, and Secretly Canadian, as well as records signed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Kim Gordon, and John Carpenter.
