Weezer have dropped a new single titled “The End of the Game.” It’s from the band’s next record Van Weezer. Suzy Shinn produced the track. Check out the song and its music video (directed by Danilo Parra) below.
Van Weezer is set to arrive on May 15, 2020 (via Crush/Atlantic). In an interview with Darren Franich for Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, frontman Rivers Cuomo said the album goes “back to big guitars” and is “Blue Album-ish, but a little more riffy.”
Cuomo continued, “The inspiration came from our live shows, where, in the middle of ‘Beverly Hills,’ unlike on the album, everything stops and I just break out with this crazy guitar solo. We noticed that, recently, the crowd just goes crazy when I do that. So it feels like maybe the audience is ready for some shredding again.”
This year, Weezer have released two self-titled LPs: January’s covers collection, known as the Teal Album, and March’s Black Album. Beginning in June 2020, the band heads out on the “Hella Mega Tour” with Green Day and Fall Out Boy.
